Editorial policy

What we publish, how we decide what goes in it, and the lines we do not cross.

Scope

iLearnQuran publishes educational material for people learning to read the Quran in English. Our subject matter is the Arabic script, pronunciation, recitation conventions, learning methods and learning materials.

What we do not publish

  • Religious rulings. We do not issue fatwas or answer questions of Islamic law. Where a question requires scholarly judgement, we say so and direct readers to a qualified teacher or scholar.
  • Positions on scholarly disagreements. Where recognised scholarly opinions differ, we note that they differ rather than presenting one as settled.
  • Invented figures. No student counts, completion rates, testimonials or statistics that we cannot substantiate.
  • Learning-time guarantees. Progress varies too widely between learners for any specific timeframe to be honest.
  • Exaggerated claims about what a website, book or application can achieve on its own.

Accuracy

Factual claims about the script, articulation and recitation rules are drawn from the standard body of teaching on the subject. Where sources differ on a detail — the exact dates of a historical figure, or how many articulation points a particular classification counts — we say that sources differ rather than picking one and presenting it as certain.

We correct errors. If you find one, please tell us, and include the page and the specific claim.

Commercial relationships

We list Quran editions and learning materials through an Amazon store and may earn a commission on qualifying purchases. This does not influence the content of our guides. Specifically:

  • Recommendations are written on educational grounds and reviewed independently of commercial considerations.
  • We do not copy product descriptions from Amazon or elsewhere.
  • We do not state product specifications we cannot verify; where information is unavailable, the field is omitted rather than estimated.
  • Commercial links are disclosed. See the Amazon disclosure.

Authorship and review

Content is written by the iLearnQuran editorial team. Where a page is reviewed by a named individual with relevant qualifications, that person is credited on the page along with the date of review. We do not attribute review to anyone who has not reviewed the material. Our content review policy describes the process.

How our articles are produced

We draft with AI assistance. Explanatory articles on this site are produced by an editor working with a large language model, and then checked against the sources named at the bottom of the page before publication. We say this plainly because readers deserve to know how what they are reading was made, and because a site about a sacred text should not be vague about its own methods.

What this does not change: nothing is published that we have not checked, no page invents a figure, a hadith reference or a scholarly position, and every claim of fact about the Arabic script, Tajweed or transmission is traceable to a source we can name. Quranic text, translations, word-by-word data and recitation audio are not written by us at all — they come from Tanzil.net, Quran.com, EveryAyah and UmmahAPI, and are reproduced unaltered.

What it does change: we do not claim personal scholarly authority we do not have. We explain and organise material; we do not issue rulings. Where a question needs a scholar, the page says so.

Reporting an error

If you find a mistake — a mistranslated word, a Tajweed rule stated wrongly, a misattributed hadith — tell us. We correct errors of fact promptly and update the page's modification date. Corrections that change the substance of an explanation are noted on the page itself rather than made silently.

Updates

Pages are revised when we find an error, when a topic needs clarification, or when a reader question shows that an explanation is not working. Substantive revisions update the page's modification date.
