About iLearnQuran
A place to find out how to start learning the Quran, written in plain English, without exaggerated claims.
Why this exists
Beginners are not short of Quran learning material online. They are short of a clear order to approach it in, and plain explanations of the terms everyone else assumes they already know. Search for how to start and you will find courses, apps and opinions, but rarely a straight answer to “what do I do first, and what comes after that?”
iLearnQuran exists to answer that. We publish beginner guides in clear English, explain the vocabulary — harakat, makharij, Tajweed, qaida — as it comes up, point to learning materials worth owning, and maintain a mobile Quran experience for reading on the move.
How we write
- Plain English. Technical terms are introduced and explained, not assumed.
- No promises about timelines. How long learning takes varies enormously between people, and any specific figure would be invented.
- No invented numbers. We do not publish student counts, success rates or testimonials we do not have.
- Descriptive, not prescriptive. We describe how the script works, how recitation is taught and what learners typically do. We do not issue religious rulings.
- Corrections welcome. If something here is wrong, we would like to know. See contact.
What we do not do
We do not give fatwas or take positions on matters of scholarly disagreement. Where a question needs scholarly judgement, the right answer is a qualified teacher or scholar, and we say so rather than guessing.
We also do not claim that a website can replace a teacher. Pronunciation in particular cannot be reliably assessed by the person doing it. Our guides repeat this because it is the single most useful thing a learner can act on.
How we are funded
We list Quran editions and learning materials through an Amazon store, and as an Amazon Associate we may earn from qualifying purchases. That does not change what we recommend or what our guides say. Full details are in our disclosure, and our editorial policy sets out how content decisions are kept separate from commercial ones.
